What Is A Fire Truck Pull?

Well, it is a contest where 10-member pull-teams literally pull a fire truck a distance of one hundred meters. Many teams do it for fun, or to support the EBFR. For the more competitive, there is a prize package worth approximately $1000.00.


What Is Our Goal?

The Evolution® 5200 HD2 thermal imaging camera manufactured by Mine Safety Appliances - The Safety Company currently retails for $9549.57 (including GST/PST) from Rocky Mountain Phoenix. In 2006, we raised $4400.00 so we still need to raise a further $5149.57. In 2008, we plan to raise the remaining funds needed, then purchase and present this thermal imaging camera to the EBFR in November 2008. Funds raised will be deposited in the GMPOA's bank account for safekeeping. By written agreement, these funds can only be spent on FTP operating costs and on projects approved by the GMPOA and the EBFR.

Why A Thermal Imaging Camera?

Thermal imaging cameras enable fire fighters to see through smoke. With it, they can quickly identify hot spots and more efficiently battle fires. More importantly, the camera can be used to locate and rescue victims. And in the absence of victims, it saves fire fighters lives because they do not have to search burning buildings needlessly. It is indeed an invaluable fire-fighting tool.
